In this note we gathered our favorite inspirational travel quotes that became a crucial part of our lives. They encourage us to travel and improve our life satisfaction. We try to remember about these motivational thoughts on a daily basis. As they made big changes in our attitude, we would like to share them with you. We are sure they will help you to achieve your dreams too! :)
OUR FAVORITE ONE:
The quote doesn’t refer to traveling directly but it changed our way of thinking and actually made us travel more. Thanks to it we don’t focus so much of our attention around earning money – we considered what can give us happiness in our everyday lives and its collecting memories :) Of course the best ones are connect with travels and that’s why we put so much effort to do it. We have only one life and want to experience as much as possible :) This quote can really change the way of thinking about life and may help to sort out what’s really important and what’s not.
Now everything we have, we put into travels as it’s our goal number one. Of course we don’t exaggerate and if we want to go out sometimes or buy some new clothes (the second one refers to Agata more :)), we just do it. If we aren’t traveling, we also need to be happy about little things.
But as we said we prefer to invest money in our travels. At the same time we extend our collection of stamps in passports and photos from many different places.
We love this quote! Each time when we come back from a trip being broken like MC Hammer, we actually feel so much richer :) After those new experiences we have endless topics to discuss. Travels give us so much knowledge and not only about the countries we visit, but also about how to organize ourselves better, what to pay bigger attention to and how to haggle :) It also gave us more knowledge about ourselves – we always travel on a budget, so sometimes the conditions are hard, we don’t have enough sleep and days are very intensive and we know now how much we can handle.
It’s a quote that can probably only be understood by those who already visited their first destinations. This thought is very true. We can read a lot about our future destinations, expect something particular, prepare ourselves for months, but when we finally get to this place, we always get a new idea about it. Sometimes our expectations are very far from the reality we face and often in a positive way. That’s why when we come back from a trip, we always have a new fresh look on some cases. It’s not even possible to return to our previous way of thinking.
The greatest example is definitely Iran. Before going there we felt insecure about this country. It’s not a popular destination and the country has a strict law and many people associate Iran with its less safe neighbors. We had all that in mind before our trip but what we faced there was just unbelievable. Iran is a very safe country and people are just amazing. It seems impossible to meet so many kind-hearted people in one place, but it is! We always say: if you ever lose your faith in people, just go to Iran :)
It’s connected with what we wrote under the point number 4. Nowadays there is so much untrue information, especially in the news. We found that out many times – going on a new trip we discover the world ourselves anew.
No matter how many times we read articles about our next destinations, look at pictures and watch videos, the place we visit turns out to be completely different in reality. We never know how impressive the particular attractions are until we see it closely. We check everything beforehand, we get to know all details, but every single time something surprises us – sometimes positively, sometimes not.
That’s why we believe it’s not possible to understand any country, city or even a little spot, if you don’t see it with your own eyes. This visits don’t have to be long – we’d say that it’s enough to spend just a couple of intensive days in most of the cities to get a pretty clear views of them. Of course, if we desired to deeply meet local cultures, it would be way too short. All in all, images of our dream destinations always look differently in our memories than we expected.
We never become attached to material goods because they don’t make us happy. When staying home we generally buy products which are necessary for living. We separate real needs from redundant fantasies. Obviously, as it was mentioned before, we don’t live like ascetics and from time to time we go for little pleasures too :)
Also, we believe that working hard to earn more and more money and keeping them in a bank account without intentions to spend them like many people do is irrational. Also buying fancy stuff just to impress others or to boost the ego is not our definition of happiness. The bulk of our money we always spend on our trips. And you know what? We have never ever regretted it. Nothing else give us so much joy.
Moreover, there’s no need to travel all the time to have an exciting life. Even in our hometown we can experience something great. We try things, which we haven’t done yet: we explore unknown sites of our city, get new skills, attend some events, join hobby communities and meet people who share our passions. Interesting spots may be not far away!
Living not having. Experiences not things.
Despite we are young, we notice how time passes so fast. That’s why we decided to keep traveling in a high pace to have many memories to recall. Now after years of traveling we can easily remind plenty of periods in the past because there are full of memorable stories. That time won’t come back, but everything else may happen again. What’s more, the money we spent on these trips are the most valuable expenses we’ve ever had. Any other spending hasn’t been so worth to make.
And we will continue to live that way!
Student times are the best to start far voyages. As an young grown-up we have everything to set off on a journey – much of free time and enough strength for exploring next destinations one by one. Traveling on our own is the best lesson we can get. It was priceless to test ourselves in new environments, unfamiliar cultures and around various people. We saw how to coexist with people when nobody speaks our language, dwellers have opposite beliefs to ours and when the local law, rules or habits couldn’t be more different than we’ve known from our home country. How to handle when we got lost or run out of money. How to survive when it’s extremely hot outside and there’s no water left in a bottle. How to act when somebody tries to trick us or have other bad intentions.
When we started traveling, we got shocked how the world looks like in reality. During our trips we experienced unbelievable hospitality and kindness in remote, non-touristic places where we didn’t expect it. On the other hand, we felt disappointed in popular, “top” destinations where everyone goes on holidays.
It’s another quote that underlines the importance of picking traveling instead of wasting life in offices till late evenings. We slowed down with our lives. The career is not what we will recollect. It’s much better to go somewhere we’ve always dreamt about.
We used to work in a stereotypical corporation – shitty job, long hours of working, overtimes, short vacation allowance, weird people and unpleasant atmosphere. Although this positions were pretty well-paid, we hated it. After quitting we felt such a relief and decided not to repeat it ever again. No chance!
At this point we’re not going to write such clichés like “get out of your comfort zone”. Let’s have a closer look on it and concentrate on a “ship”, which refers to a person. We believe that traveling is a part of human nature and this feeling is in all of us. Throughout the ages and during various civilizations in the world’s history people didn’t stay long in one place. There were many direct reasons of it, like looking for food, trading, wars or discovering new lands. But no matter what the reasons were, people couldn’t resist going further and further. The need to keep moving must be something hidden very deeply in human minds. Simply people are intended to travel.
We noticed that traveling can be addictive. After some time of staying home, the hunger of setting off on next journeys hits us so hard that we must buy tickets and start planning our next routes. It’s over us, but we don’t fight with it – this is the nicest addiction people can have :)
Sometimes we can’t wait to go on another trip to have some rest from our responsibilities and have a break from the routine – probably everyone sometimes feel the same. However, we regard travelling as a part of our lives – we always go on trips couple of times a year and we need it just to feel better, fulfill ourselves, be happier and to live more satisfying life after coming back. Also one of the main reasons to travel is that we want to feel that we live. That’s why this quote is also important for us. We just don’t want to leave anything over and regret not doing things we’ve always dreamt about :)
We always discover that places we are visiting turn out to be completely different than we thought: Iran is the nicest place on earth. North Korea is totally safe for tourists. Brunei Darussalam is one of the most underrated destinations. Armenia is the most interesting and pleasant country in its region, where locals are super friendly to foreigners. Russians are also very opened to tourists and they don’t drink so much alcohol like it’s believed. And we had many more surprises that are totally against common myths.
During our trips we’ve met fascinating people from many countries and cultures. We still keep in touch with our friends met on the way. They come from Afghanistan, Iran, Taiwan, China and Russia. Although their beliefs, customs and lifestyles were completely different, they have one thing in common: kindness to other people. And this is what makes traveling so special.
And remember to always be open-mined because:
Unfortunately, on the road we keep seeing foreign tourists, who don’t know how to behave properly. They don’t respect local culture and look down on local people. We see such situations all the time and we are very sorry. And you know what? It’s surprising that in most cases, these people look pretty good at first sight. They’re often well-groomed parents with kids in trendy clothes – just like in typical TV commercials (at this point Nutella commerials always come to our minds :D you know… the family eats the breafast together and everyone is so freaking thrilled and excitied about that :D). According to our observations they turn out to be the worst kind of tourists. We think that it can be sometimes connected with the fact that some rich people or people from very rich countries lack humbleness, but of course we’re not trying to lump.
Hope you enjoyed our note and encourage you to write us what are your favourite travel quotes :)
